Three Weeks Away
I don’t know about your household, but repeatedly the phrase, “this is crazy!” is said around here. We could be referring to the change in the last two weeks in general, the state of the grocery store, or the way people aren’t taking the word “pandemic” seriously.
However, despite all the crazy, life continues and having some normalcy and even things to celebrate are especially important right now. Case in point? Did you realize Easter is less than three weeks away?
I’m not sure as Christians that we prepare and celebrate Easter as it should be. Like Christmas, the commercialism of all the bunnies and chicks has taken away its holiness.
Easter of 30 and 40 years ago was different than it is today. Very often back then students had several days off from school leading up to it including Good Friday and the Monday after. Nowadays many schools don’t even take Good Friday as a holiday, so it makes it hard on families to give time to prepare and make Easter special.
When my kids were little I found “resurrection eggs” at a local Walmart. Today, you can hardly find anything Jesus-related to Easter at the stores other than the “He is Risen!”
But the resurrection – the fact that “He is Risen!” – is what our Christian faith is all about! It should be a heartfelt celebration. We need to rejoice! This holiday should be elevated above Christmas. (See last year’s post, “How Happy Is Your Easter?” for ideas to celebrate plus pictures of me as a little girl at Easter! lol)

Don’t let these *crazy* days consume you robbing the time we should spend celebrating the arrival of this special day. Many of us now have extra time with things in our “normal” busy lives being cancelled. Use that time to humble yourself and meditate on Resurrection Day and all the events that led up to it.
“And so Jesus came to bring humility back to earth, to make us partakers of it, and by it to save us. In heaven He humbled Himself to become a man. The humility we see in Him possessed Him in heaven; it brought Him here. Here on earth ‘He humbled himself and became obedient to death’; His humility gave His death its value, and so became our redemption. And now the salvation He imparts is nothing less and nothing else than a communication of His own life and death, His own disposition and spirit, His own humility, as the ground and root of His relationship with God and His redeeming work.”
Andrew Murray, Humility: The Journey Toward Holiness
Remember as believers and followers of Jesus we can stand on a firm foundation in this uncertain world (1 Corinthians 3:11). We know our sovereign God is in control and not to fear (2 Timothy 1:7). All of this because of Easter…Resurrection Day.
I think the song “Because He Lives” is very fitting for what we are facing right now around the world and with Easter upon us. Below is an excerpt.
Resurrection Sunday celebrates the death of death for the believer in Jesus (1 Corinthians 15:55-57). Keep your focus on that blessed hope! 💕

THANK YOU!! Truthfully, I hadn’t even given Easter itself a thought, given all that’s going on. But your writing reminds me it’s not “Easter ITSELF”’ I’m forgetting… it’s Easter HIMSELF! Easter isn’t a day— it’s the very core of our hope as believers! Easter is a person— OUR PERSON!! Our hope and stay on which we stand, our solid rock! Blessings to you, dear Leslie. He IS risen— risen indeed!

Yes ma’am! Our everything – Easter, faith, etc – is based on Him…or should be! I think now it is more important than ever to remember Resurrection Day while our country is in this state. It provides comfort, promise, and hope. I appreciate you reading and commenting, friend. 💜
