Praying for Salvation

Let me make it clear that the Bible does not give any particular words to say when you want to be saved. God’s Word promises us in Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” And John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

The words are not what save you, but the repentance and faith in your heart that makes you new in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17) and begins a relationship with Him.

Below is an example of a prayer to pray to the Lord. There are many examples online, but remember it’s the sincerity in your heart the Lord hears.

“Dear Lord, I know because of my sin I am separated from You and cannot save myself. I know You died for my sins and arose from the dead. I turn to You with faith to be my Savior. Forgive me for my sins and save me from the penalty of my sin, so I can have eternal life with You in Heaven some day. Thank you for keeping Your promise to save me. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”
