Look to the Light
The temperature got above my age the other day which means it was warm enough to go outside. 😉 So I took a stroll around the yard investigating my flower beds. Some of my daffodils, hyacinths, and a few crocuses had bloomed. It did my heart good. 💚
I noticed the crocuses on one side of my flower beds bending toward the sun.
Do you remember when you learned in elementary school about why these pretty, dainty flowers were straining toward the sun? Photosynthesis. (Did you remember? 😁) God created plants to need light. Lots of light.
The simple fact is we need light too! However, I’m not talking SUN light, although God indeed made our bodies need sunlight to produce Vitamin D. I’m talking The SON light.
Without the light of God’s Son, Jesus, we will wonder through life in the dark without direction. The opposite of light is darkness.
Don’t things often seem worse in the darkness? Problems definitely seem worse and bigger. Statistics show more crimes happen during the night hours. Many are afraid of the dark. Why? Because darkness covers and hides. Darkness is where our enemy lives and speaks his lies to cause fear and distrust. John 3:19-21
The comforting thing is even when we are going through darkness in life (all the troubles we may face), we can be like that crocus and reach toward the light. Before it had its pretty purple petals, it was a small bulb in the dark ground pushing up to burst through and reach the light from the sun.
Our Light is Jesus Christ. When we connect with Him, we have love, peace, and life. If we continue to strive to reach the Light daily though Bible reading and prayer, then like a flower, we will grow and flourish.
Here’s the thing. Light and darkness cannot dwell together. You have one or the other in your life.
If you have Jesus, then you do not need to have fear of the darkness in your life. He is there to light the way through your troubles.
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7
Through God’s Word shining as our light and encouraging us to grow, we will align in the right direction if we pursue Him.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Psalm 119:105
But you must look to the Light. If not, then you are choosing darkness. Remember, they cannot dwell together.
This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
1 John 1:5-7
We must understand that because Jesus is the Light, the way to the Light is to follow. We follow Him to have eternal life, then we can continue to reach out to Him to grow and flourish.
Have you chosen to follow Him? If not, then please read to learn more.
