ABOUT

Hi, I’m Leslie!

I am a wife of twenty-seven years to Wade and mom to two, a son living in Nashville as he gets his MBA, and a daughter who serves with her husband at a Christian school in northern Virginia.

From about second grade on, I remember loving to read and write creative stories. After high school I decided to get a degree in English because “hey, I get to spend four years doing what I love – reading and writing!”

I love to laugh, and I love to make people laugh, but I’m also an introverted extrovert…or is it an extroverted introvert? I don’t know, but my mama and husband will tell you it IS the truth (and that quiz on Facebook proves it too 😉). What I am just trying to say is that I occasionally need a break from humans. (Cats are welcome at all times.)

I’m a one-cup-a-day coffee drinker who likes natural living, requires organization, mostly enjoys living by a schedule, and keeps caught up on laundry and housework. (Remember, I am officially in the emptynester stage!) I also have the opportunity to co-lead a vibrant ladies ministry at my church.

I also enjoy making crafts of all kinds. When I see something at a craft festival, I almost always declare, “I can make that!” This is due in part because not only do I have a craft room full of tools and supplies, I also have a dad who is a jack of all trades who has that “I can do it myself!” attitude which he passed on to me in the craft department. Crafting is one of my creative outlets as is writing, graphic design (complete amateur, but I love it!), sewing, and a few other things here and there.

Our family lives out in the country on an almost fifty acre “farm” in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains of Tennessee…but we are also about five minutes from a Starbucks. Most of the year we have black Angus steers grazing our pastures. It’s one of my husband’s “hobbies” being a seventh generation beef farmer. We also have two cats and a dog to round out our family dynamics.

The most recent news in my life (other than my girl getting married in fall 2022) is that in September 2021, I was diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer. You can read about that season of my life in this post: To Every Thing There is a Season. This season has cycled back around, as I had to go through treatments again the first half of 2023 after being diagnosed as stage 4. It’s still an ongoing watch-and-wait situation. God is still good even when life is not, my friends!

Of all the things about me, the thing I desire people to know and say of me is that I love my Savior. That lifelong goal of sanctification that He and I are working on is just that – lifelong. I am constantly learning and growing in my faith and daily walk. 💚 My desire is to live my life for God’s glory. That is our reason for breathing.

I once heard our faith compared to a muscle you are strengthening at the gym. When you reach 45 pounds at 2 reps, you don’t stop there for the rest of your life. You continuously increase the weight and the reps as you exercise that muscle. We must do the same with our faith – exercise it to increase it. Right now in my life, I am trying to strengthen my faith. (My body wishes I would do the same.)

Thank you for stopping by my neck of the woods! 💕
